Emeritus Professor Steel is an experienced TEQSA registered higher education expert with a demonstrated history as manager, educator and researcher in the information technology industry. She was the Chair of Academic Board at the University of Southern Queensland and other private Higher Education Providers, She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and Fellow of the Australian Computer Society.
Professor Li is a Professor and Director of Wireless Engineering Laboratory at the University of Sydney. He has been honoured with the ARC Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship in 2008, ARC Future Fellowship in 2012, and is an IEEE Fellow for contributions to cooperative communications technologies.
Mr Halliday is a highly skilled educator and leader with 20+ years of experience in corporate learning, telecommunications, and higher education. He recently served as Nokia’s global head of learning services delivery, leading remote, multinational teams and managing third-party vendors with a focus on quality improvement.
Mr North is a seasoned Director, Chief Finance Officer, and Finance and Audit Committee Member with over 20 years of board-level expertise in Manufacturing, Higher Education, Not-for-Profit, Management Consulting, and the Public Sector. He holds a Master of Business from the University of Technology, is a Graduate of Stanford’s Advanced Financial Management Program, and is a FCPA.
Emeritus Professor Johnston Professor Archie Johnston has taught engineering various Australian institutions for the past 36 years, including the University of Sydney, the University of Technology Sydney and James Cook University. Archie was Professor of Engineering and Information Technologies, and a former Dean of Engineering & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) at the University of Technology Sydney (1999-2010). He also served as Chair of the Health Sciences Division Board at the University of Sydney from 2011 to 2014, and has been Chair of the Sydney School of Business since 2014.
Dr Cedric Spencer is an accomplished leader in business, education, law and governance, with a distinguished career spanning over two decades. His strategic expertise in accreditation, regulatory compliance and institutional leadership has driven innovation and excellence in higher education. With extensive experience in board governance and academia, Cedric is committed to advancing quality education and effective policy implementation.
The Governing Council is delegated authority by the Board to govern SITE in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework: The Threshold Standards (2021).
Professor Soar’s career spans industry and academia. He held senior executive roles in organizations like NZ Police, NZ Ministry of Health, NSW Health, and Dept Veterans Affairs. His research focuses on ICT, AI for health, and independent living. Recently, he returned to Agricultural Science, researching ICT-enabled alternative proteins.
Professor Xiang holds the Cisco Chair of AI and Internet of Things and is the Founding Director of Cisco-La Trobe Centre for AI and Internet of Things. He has received several awards and prestigious fellowship titles, including from the IET, Engineers Australia, and JSPS. He holds esteemed fellowship titles, including Queensland International Fellowship, Endeavour Research Fellowship, Smart Futures Fellow, and JSPS Invitational Fellow. Moreover, he serves as the Vice Chair at the IEEE Northern Australia Section.

Ms Wheatley is an accredited member of the NSW Public Sector Audit & Risk Committee Panel and holds Fellow status with CPA Australia. With over 30 years of senior executive experience (CEO, CFO) across government and the private sector, she brings deep expertise in financial governance, procurement, and risk management. She has served on numerous government audit and risk committees, including the NSW Ministry of Health and multiple local councils, and was awarded NSW Public Sector CPA of the Year in 2003.

Dr Unger has a distinguished career spanning 30 years as an evaluator, educator, and entrepreneur, drawing on extensive knowledge of organisational development, business acumen and governance experience at the board level. She is a non-executive director in higher education and not-for-profit sectors, with special interest in strategic risk.
Zita is a Life Member and Fellow of the Australian Evaluation Society (AES) and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). She is recipient of the AES Evaluation Policy and Systems Award, and co-winner of the Evaluation Training and Service Award. Her PhD dissertation from the University of Melbourne was in the field of sociology and education.
The Risk, Audit & Finance Committee reports to the Governing Council, providing independent advice and assurance of audit, risk, and finance governance.
Lisa Carrick is a senior executive with extensive operational leadership experience across the education and health sectors in Australia and international markets. Her recent positions include CEO of Sydney Polytechnic Institute, Director of the Transition Program for the Susan Wakil Health Building at the University of Sydney and General Manager of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. She has also served as Regional Organisational Manager at Merck Sharp & Dohme Far East based in Hong Kong, working extensively throughout South-East Asia. Lisa holds an MBA from the AGSM at UNSW and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
