    SITE Governing Bodies Effectiveness Survey

    The following survey is based on the Framework for Governing Body Effectiveness developed in the UK by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE) and the Committee of University Chairs (CUC) in 2010. The framework for assessing the effectiveness of governing bodies in higher education institutions emphasizes the importance of both processes and boardroom behaviour in governance. Questions align with the Governing Council’s Terms of Reference stated in SITI’s Governance Charter (approved by Board of Directors 01/03/2023).

    Members of Governing Council are requested to complete the survey and return it to Nicole Liu (GC Secretary) nicole.liu@siti.nsw.edu.au

    Survey results will be tabled and discussed at the next meeting of the Governing Council.

    Part A. Enablers of Effective Governance

    1. Commitment to effective governance

    1.1 There is a genuine and shared commitment by both the Governing Council (GC) and the Executive (Operations Management Team OMT & Academic Management Team AMT) to ensure effective governance.
    1.2 The quality of interaction between the GC chair, the CEO, and the GC secretary enables effective governance to occur.
    1.3 The existing roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of the GC and its committees are clearly defined and are known by both members and the Executive.
    1.4 The GC secretary provides timely, informed and suitably independent professional advice and support to the Governing Council.
    1.5 The GC regularly reviews its own performance and demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement in its own affairs.
